The Wildlife Academy at Nemacolin is dedicated to providing interactive entertainment and live animal programs with an emphasis on education. It is also all animal, all the time! You can share some Nemacolin space with lions, leopards, two-toed sloths, alligator and snapping turtles, to name a few in the nearly 100 species collection.
NEW! Jamaican Dog Sledding!
It screams summertime and is a fun twist to our winter dog sledding adventure. A wheeled cart pulled by Nemacolin's very own dog sled team will take you for a thrilling ride. The experience lasts approximately 45 minutes and includes a kennel tour and ride.
Weather permitting, and subject to availability. Combined weight of riders cannot exceed 275 lbs. Minimum weight is 45 lbs. for children. Please wear appropriate clothing. We will run in the rain, unless there is thunder and / or lightening.
Animal Express Train
Climb aboard the Nemacolin Animal Express Train as we take a guided tour of the resort's animal enclosures and habitats. An exciting and educational experience as we view members of Nemacolin's family including: Stewy and Dandy our Lions, Boo the Bear, Snowball the Buffalo, Sibel and Giggles the Hyenas, our Zebras Zeus and Medusa and more.
Pony Rides
Pony rides for little ones are a Wildlife Academy favorite. Rides are under the close supervision of our trained associates. Rides are available by appointment only.
Riders must be able to hold onto horse by themselves. Adults are not allowed to walk beside and hold onto children. Must wear proper footwear and arrive 10 minutes prior to ride time. Ride lasts 10 minutes.
Safari Tour
Get up close and personal with Nemacolin's animal family. Hop aboard our safari cart for a tour of our Wildlife Academy followed by a tour of the wildlife habitats and a chance to interact with a few, including the Feeding Stations with our Monkeys and Zebra!
Maximum seven riders per trip.
Walking Trail Rides
Tour the scenic beauty of the Laurel Highlands the way the first settlers did... on horseback. A ride designed for anyone. The Walking Trail Ride begins at the Wildlife Academy, where you will meet your horse. Your Trail Guide will then lead you throughout two miles of wooded trails by many of the animal habitats on property. Some fascinating animals you may see on this excursion include: white grey wolves, a black leopard and other exotic creatures. It's fun for the whole family.
Maximum weight of 250 lbs. All riders must be 55'' or taller and wear appropriate footwear (recommend boots or tennis shoes). Trips will run in rain unless there is thunder and / or lightening. Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to scheduled ride. Ride lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Wild Animal Show
Join the Nemacolin Wildlife Academy team as they lead you on an adventure to explore the wild world of animals. This entertaining and educational experience will showcase reptiles, birds, mammals and much more. The show takes place Saturdays during the summer and is led by the experienced associates at the The Wildlife Academy.
Wildlife Habitats
They are literally around every corner of the 2,000 acres that make up Nemacolin. Hop in your car, on a bike or walk the trails and visit with Rocky, Sugar and Boo Boo the black bears and Snowball, the White Buffalo. You'll be surprised, we promise.
